Chances are you have been working hard providing some links to your web pages by using, profile links, and go articles, maybe you are using Squidoo, or HubPages, Blogger, and you probably get your material written up and add a few links to it, submit it to the major search engines like Google, and Yahoo, and forget you have it out there. Then you survive on the hopes and dreams that the article is indexed, and shoots to the top of the leader board with the search engine results.

This method has been proven to work in the past, about 0.05% of the time. To put that into more concrete figures, for every two hundred links you have placed into articles and blogs, one of them has been noticed and indexed. So to get your ranking increased at that rate of recognition, you need to submit at least two thousand current working links every day, and you can expect ten of them to be detected by the spiders and provide you with a popularity vote. You might want to think about hiring some help, because that is a lot of articles and blogs.

Of course if you would like you could go online and take a look at the many different companies sites that sell the tools to properly get your pages indexed, and then you would not need to write two thousand additional linking connections per day, you will just attract the spiders to your existing ones. That sounds like it would save you a lot of time, and effort, since time is money, you could potentially say that you are getting the software, and tools to implement this strategy for free.

You know you have to have traffic in order to have sales, and you have to have sales, in order to stay in business, so you have to have the proper tools to provide you with the traffic you need. Having the correct tools to accomplish any tasks is a necessity, a mechanic does not work on your car using a chainsaw, and a limber jack does not cut down a tree using a socket wrench. You cannot succeed with providing yourself with the equipment to perform your duties. You need backlink indexing to help you get your existing links noticed, and your rankings to start climbing.

The SEO was right about you needing to direct that traffic your way in order to get those rankings up. They just did not tell you that you might have to give the links a little help to get recognized.

You can go to online web sites to find options for ways to get your links indexed. You will find that the price of the different things you need to get this job done is relatively inexpensive, when compared to the traffic it will provide to your web pages. Most of the things designed to help with this problem are simple to put to use.

The big search engines like Yahoo, and Bing, and Google, all have some sites that they go to on a more frequent basis than others. The options you will find for indexing your current links will allow you to get them noticed when the crawlers go to their most frequented sites. You could just create new ones to put out there, but you already have at least one hundred and ninety nine out of every two hundred that are just sitting there. One thing that I have found to be true this year is that 100 quality backlinks can take you a lot farther than 1,000 low quality backlinks that may never get indexed. They have more trust in the search engines and the fact is that domains with higher page rank get crawled more often and get crawled deeper than on low page rank domains. This gives you a better chance of getting your backlinks indexed because Google is constantly spidering the sites looking for new content to put into their cache.

If you are serious about getting search engine traffic then sooner or later you will need to either buy backlinks or learn how to build them yourself either manually or with seo software.

Think about something from the search engines point of view. If someone really likes the video that you put out, they are going to want to put it on their blog. If they do that the video is more likely to have more ranking value when it comes to the search engines. Having people put video on their website is better than having a backlink back to your website.

I’m not in the mind of the search engines, so I don’t have any evidence of that, but video most certainly can help you with your backlinks. It’s just a common sense deduction that I am making. You still want to replicate what happens in nature when it comes to blasting out videos.

As far as marketing for your website, it comes down to how many links you can get back to your site. I try and compare this with you being on the front page of the newspaper. If the newspaper gives you a front page heading, a lot of people are going to be checking out your website. If you have a really cool video on your website, you’ll prompt a lot of backlinks.

The search engines do keep track on who and how many times your website are clicked on. If it is clicked on a lot, that will tell the search engines to give you more authority on your subject matter. You’ll get more traffic to your website than someone that is just starting out. Or you can pop right into a good position if your site is put together just right.

You’d be surprised at how many people don’t take advantage of this way of getting backlinks. You also have certain pieces of software that track video and people do look for content to put on their websites. You can use this tool and type any keyword in and a relevant video will pop up. The software keeps track of the PR ranking that your users have when it comes to them giving a link back to you.

PR numbers are not an exact science, but they do help if a higher number links back to your site. So if you had 1 link from a PR 5 site that would be worth more that hundreds of links from a PR 0 website. It’s just something you should keep in mind while getting your backlinks.

If your web business will use paid advertising such as AdWords, AdBrite or Yahoo’s paid ads, then backlinks are something that you do not need to worry about. So, let’s assume that you are going to be relying on decent organic rankings in Google (they are the free ones) and you need to get your site high up on Page 1 of Google – preferably #1 – but you don’t understand this SEO business or using backlinks and your new web business can’t yet afford someone doing this mysterious art for you.

In brief, a backlink is a hyperlink (a link that can be clicked on) on a site somewhere else on the web that links back to your website. In its simplest crudest form, that is a backlink.

Unlike Bing and Yahoo which are more driven by factors on your site (though together they hold less than 25% of the search engine market), Google uses backlinks (on other sites) to figure out if your new site on, say, Siamese fighting fish, should rank highly on their search engine results or not.

Google will consider the so-called anchor text in the link (the word or phrase that is linked) and the authority of the site that the link is coming from to determine how highly or lowly your site should rank. And when it comes to Google organic search engine results, backlinks are pretty much all you have to influence the ranking success of your site.

Your next question should therefore be, how can I get these backlinks for my new Siamese fighting fish site? Back in the prehistoric age of the Internet, you would approach other webmasters and politely ask for a link on their website and in return you would offer one on your site to theirs.

Today, that’s impractical for many reasons. Firstly, Google hates what it calls reciprocal links where sites link to each other so those links will have virtually no value. Secondly, you now need link volume to get traction in Google as most sites on Page 1 of Google will usually have a hefty volume of links (think in the hundreds and thousands) if the particular keyword or search term is worth ranking for.

There are some other factors to consider such as whether the links are dofollow or nofollow, the PageRank of the site where the backlink comes from and having backlinks from a big variety of sites. Contrary to a lot of SEO advice, I have never found the relevancy of a backlink site’s topics to my site a factor at all in gaining linking power but consistency of linkbuilding is extremely important.
